101 Application Process

Fees and Payment of Fees

All fees are non-refundable. Applications will not be forwarded to the universities until full payment has been received by the OUAC. Partial payments will not be processed.

Payment is accepted by credit card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express), cheque, money order or by internet or telephone bill payment services through selected Canadian banks and credit unions. All payments must be in Canadian funds.

Credit Card (MasterCard, VISA or American Express)
The OUAC accepts MasterCard, VISA or American Express for the payment of application fees. When applying online, applicants must choose the credit card payment option, ensuring that they have entered their credit card number and expiry date correctly before submitting the payment. When applicants' credit cards are declined or invalid, their applications will not be processed or forwarded to the universities.

Internet or Telephone Bill Payment Services
Applicants who apply online may pay using internet or telephone bill payment services through selected Canadian banks and credit unions. This payment service is offered through a bank’s website or their telephone banking department. Applicants should contact their bank for further information. Please note: It may take three to four business days for the OUAC to receive internet payments.

The OUAC will provide applicants with their bill payment account number upon submission of their completed application. Applicants will require this account number in order to submit their payment. Applicants who have applied to the OUAC previously should revise their existing bill payment account number to the new bill payment account number provided. The OUAC's bill payment name is "Ontario Universities' Application Centre" or an abbreviated version of this name.

Cheque or Money Order
Applicants should make their cheques or money orders payable to the "Ontario Universities' Application Centre", including their OUAC Reference Number on the face of the cheque or money order. Payment must be submitted with the Application Remittance Payment Form, which is generated online when applicants select a cheque or money order payment. Postdated cheques and foreign cheques (outside of Canada) are not accepted. There is a charge of $25 for non-negotiable cheques.

If any of the above criteria are not met (e.g., a cheque is non-negotiable, total fees are insufficient, a credit card is returned as invalid), the processing of the application will be stopped at both the OUAC and the universities selected.

Summary of Fees (In Canadian Dollars)

Base Application Fee - for initial three university/program choices $115

Surcharge - if mailing address is outside Canada $10

Additional Choice Fee - for each university/program choice beyond the initial three $38 (e.g., if a fourth and fifth university choice are added, applicants must pay an additional $76).

Note: Applicants may apply to as many Ontario universities/programs as they wish; however, they are limited to a maximum of three program choices at any one university (including affiliates). Some universities may further limit the number of programs to which candidates may apply.

Fee for non-negotiable cheque $25

Applicants should:

  • Complete all of the required fields pertaining to their credit card: number, date of expiry and name of the credit card holder. Ensure that these fields have been filled out correctly before authorizing the payment.
  • Register the Ontario Universities' Application Centre as one of their creditors when using internet banking or telephone bill payment services, and arrange to pay the fees.
  • Ensure that payment by cheque or money order arrives at the OUAC no later than two weeks after the application has been submitted. Applicants must remember to include the Application Remittance Payment Form.
  • Remember that if a cheque or money order is received after the two-week grace period, the date on which the payment is received will be considered the date the application is submitted. Applicants should keep this in mind, particularly if the program to which they are applying has a specific application deadline.
  • Allow for the possibility that their cheque may not clear at their bank for a few days or weeks.
  • Remember that if problems with their fees are encountered (e.g., their cheque is non-negotiable, total fees are insufficient, their credit card is returned as invalid), processing of their application will be stopped at both the OUAC and the universities selected.
