Common Questions
Can I defer my acceptance until next year or later?
If you are admitted to a university but wish to delay your studies for a year or more, you will need to reach an agreement with the university in question. The university will determine any conditions.
When you are ready to return, you must re-apply through the OUAC. You will need to use the correct application, submit the appropriate application fee and respect any application deadlines. Your new file will provide up-to-date information as well as accurate statistical data. You may also apply for additional choices of university or programs with the new application; however, additional university/program selections beyond the initial three will require the payment of additional choice fees.
If you deferred your acceptance (and are not a current Ontario secondary school student in a day program) you must use the OUAC 105 application available at: www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/. When you are not registered as a regular secondary school day student you must also ensure that your official secondary school transcripts or reports of final grades are forwarded directly to the universities. The 105 application is subject to a different application fee and possible institution-specific supplemental/document evaluation fees.
