Common Questions

I may need financial assistance to attend university. What about scholarships?

Ontario secondary school students can take advantage of a variety of scholarships available at all Ontario universities. The Ontario Government also has a financial aid program to assist students in need of funding in order to pursue a university education. Some university scholarships are available for applicants entering their first year of study and some are renewable for additional years if they satisfy certain conditions. Be sure to accept offers of scholarships by the stipulated reply deadline.

In addition to the scholarship programs of the universities and the government student assistance programs, several large corporations across the country offer scholarships to the children of full-time employees. Ask your parents to inquire about whether their employer has a scholarship or a bursary program open to you.

Your guidance counsellor and the university financial aid offices can also provide you with further information.

Additional information regarding scholarships can also be found at www.electronicinfo.ca, under “Searchable Scholarships”.
