About Our Teacher Education Program

At Brock’s Faculty of Education, we give teachers the tools they need to succeed at the head of the class by putting learning at the centre of everything we do.

Teachers change lives. From guiding learners in the digital age to advancing inclusion, equity and justice, a great teacher makes all the difference. That teacher can be you.

About Our Consecutive Teacher Education Program

The Consecutive Teacher Education program (Bachelor of Education) is available to individuals with a completed undergraduate degree (refer to Acceptable Degree guidelines on our website).

Upon successful completion of the program, teacher candidates are normally recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for membership and to receive their Ontario Certificate of Qualification and Registration. The Consecutive Teacher Education program is offered as a 16-month, full-time program over 2 years at both of our campuses.

About Our Technological Teacher Education Program

Our Consecutive Technological Education Teacher Education program (Technological Education – Bachelor of Education [BEd] or Certificate in Education) provides candidates with the professional education necessary to become certified teachers in Ontario.

The program is comprised of 4 terms (16 months in duration). It is delivered in a blended online and in-person format, allowing some students to continue working at least part-time while completing the program.

Admission Requirements

General Admission Requirements

Due to the popularity of these highly competitive professional programs, we receive more applications than there are available spaces.

Offers are limited and admission is not guaranteed by fulfilling the minimum requirements. All applicants, regardless of their professional background or academic history, are assessed using the same criteria.

Consecutive Teacher Education (B10 and B30) Admission Requirements

To be considered, you must:

  • At the time of application, present a minimum of 10.0 completed undergraduate credits with final grades showing on the transcript. These cannot include college transfer credits awarded toward your undergraduate degree.
  • Meet your undergraduate degree requirements and be able to provide proof of undergraduate degree completion by April 2026. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Technical Education (B80) Admission Requirements

Transcripts

If you are currently in undergraduate degree studies or have already completed your undergraduate degree, you must request official transcripts from all Ontario postsecondary institutions you attend(ed) using the online transcript request in your TEAS application. Select “Send Immediately” when you request your transcripts.

Current Brock undergraduate students or graduates do not need to order or send Brock transcripts.

If we give you an offer of admission, you must arrange to have your official final transcript sent to Brock once you complete your studies, through the online transcript request in your TEAS application, selecting the “After Degree Conferred” option. Your transcript should indicate “Degree/diploma conferred”.

If you experience issues submitting your final transcript showing “Degree/diploma conferred”, email Admissions.

Casper

For fall 2026, the admission criteria for the Consecutive Teacher Education program consists of:

  1. academic requirements and
  2. the online Casper assessment.

Casper is an online, open-response situational judgement test that takes 65 to 85 minutes to complete. Casper measures different personal and professional skills that we believe are important for successful students and graduates of our program.

There are only 5 testing dates available. These fill quickly, and additional testing dates will not be added. Secure your preferred test date early to ensure you can be accommodated. The testing dates are:

  • October 9
  • October 16
  • November 6
  • November 30
  • December 2

Do not wait until the December 1, 2025, deadline to submit your TEAS application, as you must allow enough time to register for the mandatory Casper test.

To account for identity verification and payment processing timelines, ensure that you register for your test at least 3 business days before your preferred test date and time. Prepare to select an alternate testing date, as dates fill quickly. No additional testing dates will be scheduled.

You may wish to take Casper prior to applying if you are planning on applying later in the application window. If so, ensure you use the same name and email address on your TEAS application as you did when you register for Casper. When you register for Casper, use the OUAC code 20260000000.

Special Admission (for B10 and B30 applicants)

You may consider submitting a special admission consideration form if you meet the minimum admission requirements and feel you have been disadvantaged based on one of the following categories:

  • equity consideration,
  • extenuating circumstances or
  • a disability.

Equity Admission

At Brock, we believe that a diverse and welcoming learning community is built upon the foundation of exceptional students, faculty, staff and alumni. We welcome people of all identities and background from within Canada and around the world.

International Applicants and Internationally Educated Teachers (IET)

International applicants are all applicants who are applying from outside of Canada.

If you are submitting international documents (showing completed undergraduate credits and/or a degree credential), review the international document submission process to ensure you have completed all required steps.

In addition to transcripts with English translation, all applicants from outside of Canada must submit a World Education Services (WES) evaluation, which includes details at the course-by-course level, not just the confirmation of a completed credential.

Exception: If you are submitting an undergraduate degree transcript from the United States, a WES evaluation is not required.

WES assessments usually take 4-6 weeks to process and must be received by the document deadline.

Language Requirements

If English is not your first language, you must submit evidence of English-language proficiency.

We will automatically notify you on your Brock student portal if you are required to submit an English-language proficiency test result.

Teaching Subjects

Teaching Subjects for B10 and B30 Applicants

Submit your Teachable Subject Clarification Form if you are applying to the Intermediate/Senior (B30) division.

This form is mandatory and will be available in your Brock student portal after you submit your application. The top portion of this form is where you will list undergraduate courses you wish to be considered to satisfy your teachable subject requirements.

If the course name and/or code of your undergraduate courses are not explicit and/or do not clearly indicate the content required for your teachable subjects, you must:

  • clarify how your coursework will meet teachable subject requirements in the lower portion of the Teachable Subject Clarification Form and
  • submit course descriptions or syllabi that will help our office identify whether these courses will satisfy your teachable subject requirements.

For Intermediate/Senior (B30) applicants only:

  • Teachable subject credits that are not completed by the document deadline must show as “In Progress” on the transcript submitted at the time of application.
  • Indicating on the TEAS application that you are registered in a course is not sufficient proof.
  • It is your responsibility to ensure that “In Progress” courses show on the transcript your institution sends.

Review our website for a full explanation of teachable subject requirements and the Teachable Subject Clarification form.

In addition to general admission criteria, we reserve the right to select candidates from priority teachable subject areas based on labour market demands.

Teaching Subjects for B80 Applicants

Related trades and professions recognized within each BBT.

Applicants apply on the B80 application and are considered for eligibility under the listed pathway combinations for the Technological Education – BEd. Applicants must satisfy one of the combinations of postsecondary education and wage-earning experience to be admitted to the BEd in Technological Education Program. Ensure you review and understand pathway combinations.

Certificate in Education

If you do not have the listed combinations of postsecondary education and wage-earning experience, but hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of wage-earning experience, including business or industrial experience, where you used skills and knowledge in the area of the BBT education subject you are applying to, you may be considered for admission to the Technological Education program and will be eligible to receive a Certificate in Education.
